24 Hours before Opening Day, the Yankees have made a move to bolster their Infield depth with the news that DJ Lemahieu will start the season on the IL.

The Yankees traded 18 year old John Cruz, who hit .294 in rookie ball last year to the Marlins, for 34 year old 3B John Berti who had a slash line of .294/.344/.405 in 133 games last year.

Berti's 5+ years of MLB expirence paired with his versatility defensively (being able to play 3B, SS, 2B, and LF) could prove to be a big piece for the Yankees as a utility player and/or a guy coming off the bench.

Edit: The Yankees will also be sending Catcher Ben Rortvedt to the Rays, all but confirming that Jose Trevino and Austin Wells will be the two catchers on the Opening Day roster tomorrow.
