After about 48 hours of Yankees fans mentally preparing for a Tommy John surgery announcement regarding Gerrit Cole, the Yankees announced some good news (well sorta). It seems that (as of now) Gerrit Cole isn't getting Tommy John surgery, and will only be shut down for the next 6-8 weeks, which initially seems like a long time, however, a possible Late May-Early June return is 1,000x better news than what could have been a summer 2025 return if Cole got Tommy John.

But, there is still some uncertainty surrounding Cole's arm, as per MLB reporter Jon Heyman, Cole will be traveling to LA to get his arm checked out by a specialist. https://x.com/jonheyman/status/1767961909440164205?s=46&t=SKGb6E4nzKyyiAuxP1vi5A
